Bravo's New Season Favors Spinoffs, 'Sordid' Drama

Bravo continues to build its original programming vault with a pair of scripted shows, a series about entrepreneurship starring someone named Zuckerberg and spinoffs of “Top Chef” and “The Real Housewives” franchise.

Dramas “22 Birthdays” and “Blowing Sunshine” (both working titles) are planned for 2013. The first focuses on “sordid and scandalous” machinations of parents at an exclusive private school, the latter on the staff and patients at a private rehab center.

In the unscripted arena, “Silicon Valley” (working title) has young professionals trying to strike gold in the tech hub in partnership with Randi Zuckerberg, older sister of Facebook founder Mark and a former Facebook executive.

“Life After Top Chef” catches up with former contestants on “Top Chef” as they run their own restaurants and move ahead in culinary businesses.

“SUR” features Lisa Vanderpump, a standout on “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” as she opens an eponymous Hollywood lounge, ruling over a “lively and mischievous staff with a platinum fist.”

“The Kandi Factory” becomes a series after a special earlier this year. It features songwriter Kandi Burruss of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” and her team attempting to turn people with no experience into singing sensations.

The announcements came as Bravo held its upfront event. The network, which has 11 new series in the hopper, says its brand revolves around food, fashion, beauty, design and pop culture.

Bravo also said it would launch a Facebook “Real Housewives” social media game in conjunction this summer with the premiere of the new season of “The Real Housewives of New York.”
