Fresh & Easy To Test Online Groceries

  • May 21, 2012

The Financial Times reports that Tesco, in an effort to stem the losses at its struggling Fresh & Easy chain in the U.S., is testing online shopping, which allows consumers to click and pay for items online, then pick them up in stores. Fresh & Easy, with most of its stores in California, is following the lead of Walmart, which is also testing such a service in California, the FT reports.

Earlier this month, Tesco announced it was moving Tim Ashdown, chief executive officer of Tesco China, to succeed Jeff Adams as chief retail officer at Fresh & Easy, running the chain’s day-to-day operations. Tim Mason, Fresh & Easy’s CEO, is also CMO of the Tesco, and splits his time between the U.S. and England.
