O&M Rates High On Multicultural Career Front

WPP’s Ogilvy & Mather has been rated the best agency for career advancement of multicultural professionals, according to research from minority recruitment specialist Tangerine Watson Inc.

Portland independent ad agency Wieden + Kennedy was ranked second, while multicultural ad shop Global Hue placed third. Omnicom’s BBDO finished fourth.

The rankings were derived from a survey of roughly 550 multicultural agency professionals, who took part in a broader TWI study about diversity in Adland. The broader study, released in April, showed a lot of dissatisfaction with the industry’s overall diversity efforts. The best-places-to-work part of the study was released today.

"The agencies that rise to the top of the lists are those with leadership that treats inclusion as a deliberate and conscious intention with the same focus and attention as building a digital culture has been in our industry," stated TWI founder and CEO Carol Watson.

While O&M was best for career advancement, W+K was found to have the best multicultural corporate culture. O&M was second in that ranking, followed by TBWA/Chiat/Day and Digitas, which finished third and fourth in the category respectively.

In the category labeled “Best Agencies with Senior Management Committed to Diversity,” W+K and O&M also ranked first and second, respectively. Draftfcb was third and McCann Erickson finished fourth.

W+K was also deemed the Best Agency at Creating Content for Diverse Audiences. Global Hue was rated second, TBWA/C/D was third and Burrell Communications was fourth.
