MPA Announces New Board

Magazine Publishers of America (MPA) Monday announced several changes to its board during the American Magazine Conference in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Thomas Ryder, chairman and CEO of The Reader's Digest Association and previously the board's vice chair, was named chair. He replaces Daniel Brewster, president and CEO of Gruner + Jahr USA, in that role. The board new vice chair is Jack Kliger, president and CEO of Hachette Filipacchi Media. Time Inc. executive vice president Michael Kingensmith will continue as treasurer, while National Geographic Society Magazine Group president John Griffin becomes secretary. Other additions to the MPA board of directors include Meredith Corp. Magazine Group president Jack Griffin and AARP director, publications Linda McCutcheon. Separately, the MPA announced that 25 domestic member publishing companies have joined the organization since last year's conference.
