Macy’s is gearing up for its seventh annual “Shop For A Cause” event, designating March of Dimes as the national beneficiary. Shoppers buy a $5 “Shop For A Cause” savings pass from their favorite participating cause, and in exchange, get 25% off regular, sale and clearance merchandise, as well as 10% off watches, furniture, mattresses and rugs.

Each of the 6,000 participating nonprofits get to keep 100% of every savings pass it sells.  Since 2006, the one-day event has helped raise $42 million for charities. Last year, it raised $3.2 million on behalf of March of Dimes.
