NBC's 'Revolution' Screening To Be Powered By Cyclists

Revolution-A_1Tagging onto its somewhat eco-green focus, new NBC drama "Revolution" will have a special outdoor screening in New York City -- and it will be powered by cyclists.

A free advance screening at New York City's Hudson River Park Pier 57 on September 4th will be powered by 80 cyclists, under a "Powered by the People" promotion. NBC linked with public advocacy group Transportation Alternatives for the effort to push the message of alternative energy.

The NBC drama "Revolution" is set in current time when all worldwide electricity goes off and people have to resort to a more green lifestyle -- all the while surviving marauding militias.

Some 1,000 guests will be able to screen the premiere of the show -- and members of the audience will be invited to generate power on the specially equipped bikes. Before the screening, "brand ambassadors" will look to charge up electronic devices.  Event sponsors say guests will be encouraged to bike or walk to the screening.

NBC says screening results from a voting contest on Facebook will reward other cities with advance screenings.

Transportation Alternatives say its mission is to advocate for bicycling, walking and public transit, as well as the creation of new bike lanes.
