Chevy Strikes Sparks With MTV

Chevrolet partnering with MTV to help get the word out about its minicar, Spark, which went on sale in mid-July in the United States. To tout the vehicle, which the GM division says is designed for first-time buyers and city dwellers, the automaker is launching "Cover the World," a program developed with MTV Iggy, a multiplatform for global artists and pop culture trends. The new online music showcase puts Spark in the midst of a program in which artists from abroad cover American pop songs.  

Four musical acts from around the world will each cover one iconic song chosen by fans. Each act will perform its cover versions of the song and fans will vote for their favorite. In the program, which launches today at CoverTheWorld.com, gives fans who vote a chance to win a custom-wrapped Chevy Spark, as well as a VIP trip for two to see one of the featured acts perform live.

Fans can also create, upload and share their own cover version for a chance to win a Chevy Spark. Four musical acts from around the world will each cover one iconic song chosen by fans. Each will perform its cover versions of the song and fans will vote for their favorite.GM says Spark accounted for 2,630 units sold in the United States in August.
