Mediabrands Hires Suarez As President Of World Markets

Andrea-Suarez-BIPG Mediabrands has appointed Andrea Suarez as its new president of world markets, a role that includes oversight of operations in over 50 offices around the world, including Austria, Belgium, Greece, the Mideast, Peru, Portugal, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey and Vietnam.

Mediabrands, the Interpublic Group media oversight arm, is billing the promotion as the first time a Latin American woman will be undertaking a global leadership role within the media agency industry. Suarez and her team will be handling media assignments for global clients such as Coca-Cola, L’Oreal, Unilever, AB Inbev, Microsoft and MasterCard.

Suarez succeeds Mauricio Sabogal, who was recently named global CEO of Mediabrands’ fledgling new agency network BPN. When he was in the global markets role, Mediabrands said he was the first Latin American to reach a top global position in the industry.

Previously, Suarez was COO at the World Markets group, which was formed as part of Mediabrands reorganization last year. Earlier, she was CEO of UM Latin America.

Matt Seiler, global CEO, IPG Mediabrands, describes Suarez as a “superstar," stating he “can't wait to see what she will do with this much-deserved bigger platform."

Before taking on the UM Latin America role, Suarez held a number of key positions in marketing research, brand marketing, account management and new business development for companies such as Omnicom Media Group, British American Tobacco, VW & Audi.
