Heineken USA: New Marketing Exec, New Bottle

Heineken USA has named Matthew Kahn VP, marketing for its Portfolio Brands, which include Do Equis, Newcastle Brown Ale, Amstel and recently acquired Stronbow Cider. Kanh was previously SVP marketing at Energy Brands, Inc./Glacèau.

In addition, Heineken has redesigned the bottle of its flagship ale for U.S. consumers. Heineken's green "Star Bottle" (available in 12- and 22-ounce sizes) is now taller and thinner. It also has an embossed thumb groove to improve grip and encourage people to hold it at a lower point, to help keep the beer colder. 

The new bottle will be in select New York State markets starting in mid-September. A national roll-out is slated to begin in March 2013.--Karlene Lukovitz
