Honest Kids Replaces Sugar Cane With Fruit Juice

  • September 21, 2012

Honest Tea has reformulated its Honest Kids "fruit-juice-sweetened" line of beverages, removing organic sugar cane by increasing the juice content, reports Beverage World.

The drinks still have 40 calories per 6.7-ounch pouch.

Honest Tea "found a way to deliver the same not-too-sweet taste by sweeting only with fruit juice," said Seth Goldman, founder and TeaEO of Honest Tea, who reports that Honest Kids now represents nearly a third of the company's business.

The packaging on Honest Kids' pouches and eight-pouch cartons ha also been changed: They now feature photography showing the fruits in each variety, in line with the designs used for Honest Tea and Honest Ade.

In addition, the company is introducing a multi-serving 59-ounce size of Honest Kids meant for in-home consumption, available in three of Honest Kids' five varieties (Berry Berry Good Lemonade, Super Fruit Punch and Goodness Grapeness).

The reformulated eight-pouch cartons and multi-serve bottles will be in natural food stores in October and in grocery stores starting in January.
