Cumberland Packing Corp. is adding Monk Fruit In The Raw to its In The Raw portfolio of all-natural sugar substitutes.
The company says the zero-calorie substitute has a "natural taste" and can be used in cooking and baking and a wide variety of beverages and foods.
Monk fruit is a vine-ripened fruit native to Asia. According to Cumberland, unlike other monk fruit-based sweeteners, its new product does not contain added table sugar, sugar alcohols or molasses.
The product will begin national retail distribution this month. Suggested retail price for a 4-count box is $3.49.
