Thrifty PayLess Pays $800,000 To Settle False Advertising Charge

As initially reported in MediaDailyNews on October 15, Rite Aid Corp. and its California subsidiary Thrifty PayLess Inc. have been ordered to pay $800,000 to settle a false advertising complaint, reports NBC. A San Diego judge ordered the settlement. Prosecutors say Rite Aid led customers to believe they would pay less for items bought using the company's Wellness Card. But at the register, the card wasn't honored. Instead, they were given a coupon toward future purchases.
