Liggins To Head TV One

Alfred-Liggins-TV One CEO Wonya Lucas, the former Discovery executive, will leave the network after about 15 months in the top post. Alfred Liggins, the CEO of the network's majority owner, Radio One, will take over in November.

Liggins credited Lucas with launching series “R&B Divas” and “The Rickey Smiley Show.” Lucas replaced founding CEO Johnathan Rodgers in 2011. In an SEC filing in September, Radio One said it was negotiating a new deal with Liggins.

Liggins has been chairman of TV One. Radio One operates 55 radio stations in 16 markets and owns about 51% of TV One, which targets an older African-American audience than BET.

The network is in about 57 million homes. Before joining TV One, Lucas was COO of both the Discovery Channel and Science Channel. She joined Discovery Communications as CMO from the Weather Channel. I am extremely proud of what has been accomplished during my time with (TV One) and am confident that the senior team under Alfred’s leadership will continue to thrive and succeed,” Lucas stated.
