Publicis Groupe’s Starcom MediaVest Group has issued a statement in response to a discrimination lawsuit filed by Angela Cahill, a former planner with the agency network. The story posted Friday in Media Daily News"Starcom MediaVest Slammed With Discrimination Lawsuit."
In the suit filed late last month, Cahill said she was stripped of a number of responsibilities last year after she became pregnant and then was fired after she complained about it. Her suit stated that the alleged actions violated New York State and New York City human-rights laws.
But in a statement issued to MediaPost, SMG countered that
“This alleged lawsuit is completely baseless and without merit. Further, as of [Sept 22], no such law suit from Angela Cahill has actually been served on SMG.” The shop further stated that
it would “vigorously defend against this complaint.” In its statement, SMG did not address specific charges leveled at the agency by Cahill. Instead, it pointed to what it claimed was its
“rich legacy of diversity and inclusion.”
