All TV networks use their valuable time slots carefully. Come next February, one of the biggest in any TV season will go to rookie CBS drama "Elementary." The show, a modern take on Sherlock Holmes, will get the coveted post Super Bowl slot on Sunday, February 3, starting at approximately 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
"Super Bowl XLVII" typically gives big results to a show that follows the big game -- as well as helping to push nascent shows to new levels.
A year ago, NBC "The Voice," which followed the Super Bowl, pulled in 37.6 million viewers. A year before that, Fox's "Glee" took in 26.8 million viewers. And the last time CBS had the big game -- 2010 -- it started a new reality show, "Undercover Boss," and earned 38.6 million viewers.
NBC's
"Friends" in 1996 holds the all-time record for a post-Super Bowl show: 52.9 million viewers. A year ago, the big game itself posted year another record for viewers for a single U.S. TV episode
-- 111.3 million.
