History Tops In Basic Cable

History-Mankind-AThe History Channel has particular appeal among DirecTV and Dish Network subscribers, according to new survey results from Beta Research. The network ranked first among 43 basic cable networks, with 62% of its viewers saying they are “very satisfied” with it.

A trio of Discovery, ESPN and National Geographic Channel followed at 59%, with the Food Network just below at 58%. The survey was conducted online in June among subscribers to certain packages, with 1,866 adults and 209 teens participating.

The results were divided by basic cable networks and digital basic networks, where there 29 covered in the research.

In the digital basic category, PBS Kids Sprout led with 58% of its viewers saying they are “very satisfied” with it. Investigation Discovery and the NFL Network came in behind at 55%, with the DIY network just below at 54%.

The research also looked at “average perceived value among viewers.” ESPN led among basic cable networks at $1.57, followed by History at $1.50 and Discovery at $1.45. The Cartoon Network, Disney Channel and ESPN2 followed at $1.43.

Among digital basic networks, the NFL Network led at $1.73, followed by ESPNNews at $1.38, Investigation Discovery and Teen Nick at $1.34.

    Congrats to History...except there isn't much "History" programmed anymore.
