TV Regulars: 'Rudolph' Still Popular, 'Victoria's Secret' Stuns

The-Victoria-Secret-Fashion-ShowMany may moan about the tough 10 p.m. broadcast network time period losing ratings to time-shifted viewing, but a high-profile, heavily marketed beautiful model-laden runway can change those TV dynamics -- at least for one night.

"The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show," now an early annual December event, pulled in a big Nielsen 3.5 rating/10 share among 18-49 viewers Tuesday night -- easily the best-rated show at 10 p.m. and of the night overall. The downside? The big model show was down 24% from a year ago.

Earlier in the evening at 8 p.m., NBC pulled down a 3.4/10 for "The Voice" -- the second-best-rated show of the night -- which was down from a 3.8 rating a week before. But overall, CBS bested NBC on this Tuesday -- leading with a 2.8/8 average to NBC's 2.4/7.

CBS counter-programmed with family-friendly fare at 8 p.m. -- "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer," which took in 2.9/8 -- numbers that were down 28% versus a year ago.

NBC continued to see strong results from its new comedy "Go On" at 2.5/5, about the same versus a week before. Another new comedy "The New Normal," landed at a 1.7/4. "Parenthood" at 10 p.m. was slightly lower than its previous show, at 1.7/5.

Fox brought up third place with a 1.5/4, followed by ABC at a 1.4/4, Univision with a 1.4/4, and CW at a 0.5/1.

All of Fox's four Tuesday night comedies dipped from the week before: "New Girl" came in at a 2.0/5; "Raising Hope" scored a 1.4/4; "The Mindy Project" earned a 1.3/3; and "Ben and Kate" was at 1.1/2.

ABC's best came from "Shark Tank" at 1.7/5, down from a previous 1.9 rating.

Both CW's one-hour shows gain one-tenth of a rating point each -- "Hart of Dixie" at a 0.6/2 and "Emily Owens MD" at a 0.4/1. Pretty much like its 18-49 numbers, CW scored a 0.5 rating/2 share average on the night for its more ad-targeted younger 18-34 viewers.
