  • August 8, 2004
MarketWatch.com, Inc., the online provider of financial and business news and financial tools, today announced that it has changed its corporate name to MarketWatch, Inc. The change was approved at MarketWatch's annual stockholders' meeting on Aug. 4. The company has obtained trademark protection for "MarketWatch" in the United States and abroad. "The change in our name to drop the '.com' is a reflection of the growth in our business," said MarketWatch Chairman and CEO Larry Kramer in a statement. "MarketWatch started out as an Internet provider of market news and information with our flagship Web site, CBS.MarketWatch.com. We've since become a diversified global media company encompassing not just an Internet business but a range of other enterprises including television, radio, content licensing, subscription publications and global wire services," Kramer said. For the second quarter, MarketWatch saw revenue jump 82 percent over the same period in 2003, with net income of $1.4 million.
