AT&T Expanding 'It Can Wait' Program

  • January 7, 2013

AT&T will expand its anti-texting and driving “It can wait” program into 2013, adding initiatives such as working with device makers to pre-load no-texting-while driving solutions into handsets, working with companies such as Wal-Mart and cities such as Houston, Texas, on “It can wait” collaborations, and making “It Can Wait” branded materials available to partner organizations for their own programs.

In addition, the company will launch a year-round texting-while-driving simulator, hitting more than 380 events across the country. In 2012, AT&T partnered with 165 organizations, including national nonprofits, commercial businesses, law enforcement and other organization to encourage people to make a pedge not to text and drive.

"Our goal is simple – we want to change behavior and save lives," said AT&T Senior Executive Vice President and Global Marketing Officer Cathy Coughlin. "That's why we're putting additional resources behind this effort and why we're inviting everyone to join us in this cause. Working together, we can make a difference."
