Fox's new show "The Following" has done something no new network drama has done this season -- it improved on its season premiere ratings in its second
week.
The 9 p.m. drama, which focuses on serial killers, had a strong Nielsen preliminary 3.3 rating/8 share among 18-49 viewers, up from its 3.2 debut rating a week ago.
In
addition, "Bones," Fox's earlier 8 p.m. veteran show, posted its best season-to-date ratings so far, with a 2.6/7 -- besting two veteran reality shows: ABC's "The Bachelor" (2.5/7) and NBC's "The
Biggest Loser" (2.3/6).
For the night overall, Fox led all broadcasters among three key viewing categories: 2.9/8 among 18-49 viewers, a 2.4/7 among 18-34 viewers, and 9.6 million total
average viewers. ABC was in second place with a 2.1/6; followed by NBC at a 1.9/5; CBS with a 1.7/4; Univision at a 1.6/4; and CW at a 0.4/1.
Another new midseason show, NBC's
"Deception" at 10 p.m., had about the same results as the week before: 1.3/3. But it was a repeat of ABC's "Castle" that won the time period with a 1.4/4. CBS' "Hawaii Five-0," a repeat, earned a
1.2/3.
CW's new midseason show "The Carrie Diaries" came in at the same level versus a week ago with a 0.5/2. The network's 9 p.m. show "90210" slipped a bit to 0.3/1.
Not only
did CBS run a repeat at 10 p.m. with "Five-0," but it did the same with its comedies earlier in the evening. Its best results were from "Big Bang Theory" at 8:30 p.m. -- with a 2.3/6.
