Kraft Foods Names Elsner As CMO

  • January 31, 2013

Kraft Foods Group, Inc. has named Deanie Elsner as its first chief marketing officer since it became a standalone company last year.

Elsner was most recently president of Kraft’s Beverages business, where she was responsible for the manufacturing, marketing and sales of Maxwell House coffee (one of the company’s billion-dollar brands), Kool-Aid, Capri Sun, Country Time, Crystal Light, Gevalia and Tassimo.

Under her leadership, Kraft launched MiO – one of its most successful launches in history (the brand is on pace to exceed $200 million in revenues this year), according to the company.

Elsner, who’s been with Kraft since 1992, served in numerous brand-management positions at the company, and
managed the European coffee business (where she orchestrated a turnaround and established a strategy for category success, according to Kraft) before assuming leadership of the Beverages business.

When Kraft split last year, CMO Mary Beth West left Kraft Foods to assume the same position at new sister company Mondelez International. The newly independent Kraft Foods Group has been operating without a CMO since the split.
