Werner Promotes CBS' 'Coaching Spotlight'

Werner Co., which annually gets prime exposure as players and coaches climb its ladders to cut down March Madness nets, will continue to back a “Coaching Spotlight” segment on the CBS Sports Network.

The 9-inch ladders Werner builds specifically for the annual tournament include details such as a HolsterTop with a magnetic strip to secure the scissors for the net-cutting for both the men’s and women’s tournaments.

Werner Co., which annually gets prime exposure as players and coaches climb its ladders to cut down March Madness nets. The company has also sponsored a “bracket challenge” this month on ESPN’s “Mike & Mike In The Morning” radio show, which is simulcast on ESPN2.

This year, Werner has a custom ladder to plug the 75th anniversary of the Final Four, which will continue to have a presence on the CBS sports outlet.

Net-cutting at the NCAA started in 1947 with North Carolina State and its coach Everett Case, Werner said.

Werner’s promotions this year also include a sweepstakes with a replica ladder as a prize.

Werner’s Web site features a shot of Kentucky coach John Calipari waving with the net being cut down as his team won the tournament last year.
