Aside from Google having enough information to detect bad links, the company now has enough data to determine the velocity at which companies acquire links. He tells us that in recent months there has been a noticeable change in how Google treats new links. "While this is very much theory, my view is that Google have become very good now at spotting link velocity 'spikes' and anything out of the ordinary is immediately devalued," he writes.
