Univision's getTV To Air Sony Classic Movies

Univision’s owned-and-operated stations will offer an English-language network as a digital subchannel. Featuring classic movies, getTV will launch this fall from Sony Pictures Television (SPT) Networks on the outlets.

SPT is looking for other station groups to carry the channel. The company’s head of worldwide networks president Andy Kaplan stated:“The over-the-air market provides a significant growth opportunity for our channels business.”

The films will come mostly from the Sony Pictures library, which has more than 3,500 movies, such as “Lawrence of Arabia” and “It Happened One Night.”

Univision will offer the network in 24 markets and 17 of the top-20 ones, which reach 44% of U.S. TV homes.
