Electronic Arts will be the creator of some of the most anticipated games coming over the next few years, having signed a new multi-year agreement with the Walt Disney Company to develop and publish games based on Star Wars characters and storylines.

Under the agreement, EA will develop and publish games for a “core gaming audience,” while Disney will have the rights to develop games within mobile, social, tablet and online categories.

 “Every developer dreams of creating games for the Star Wars universe,” said EA Labels President Frank Gibeau, in a statement. “The new experiences we create may borrow from films, but the games will be entirely original with all new stories and gameplay.”
