LIN TV, TWC Reach Deal To Prevent Blackout

LIN Television has reached a carriage deal with Time Warner Cable preventing a blackout of its stations on the cable operator. The Buffalo CBS station, WIVB, which might have gone dark, posted a note on its Web site saying an agreement is in place.

“This fair resolution ensures that we can continue to provide top quality news, sports, entertainment and other local programming that is most important to you,” the note said.

Other stations posting the note were WDTN, the NBC affiliate in Dayton, and KHON, the Fox affiliate, in Honolulu.

The current deal covering retrans consent payments was scheduled to expire at 5 p.m. EST.

Last summer, a dispute between Time Warner Cable and Hearst had the cable operator importing Nexstar stations from other markets into areas with blackouts.
