Fox, ABC Vie For Sunday Night

ABC tried out one new series and a returning series on Sunday -- against a host of reruns. But it barely was able to tie Fox in ratings for the top spot among key 18-49 viewers.

Fox was at a Nielsen preliminary 1.1 rating/4 share (and 2.5 million average total viewers) to ABC’s 1.1/3 (and 4.05 million average total viewers). Fox ran its usual slate of animated comedies.

At 8 p.m., ABC offered up another version of “Celebrity Wife Swap," pulling in with a 1.3/4 -- down 20% from its most recent original in May. A new reality show at 9 p.m., “Whodunnit,” scored the same 1.3/4 number.

In the same 9 p.m. time period, NBC had the new procedural drama show “Crossing Lines" -- but it only got to a 0.7/2, virtually half the numbers of the new ABC show. That said, NBC was higher overall in total viewers with 4.4 million to ABC’s 4.04 million.

Apart from these shows, the broadcasters were in reruns on the shows.

After Fox and ABC, NBC was at a 0.8/2 (4.05 million overall viewers), followed by Univision at a 0.7/2 (2.06 million viewers) and CBS with a 0.6/2 (4.9 million viewers).
