'Chef,' 'Talent' Serve Decent Ratings

Two hours of “MasterChef,” its consistent summer reality show, placed Fox on top of the heap for Wednesday. Although the show lost a bit of ground from its most recent Wednesday outings, Fox posted a Nielsen preliminary 2.1 rating/7 share among 18-49 viewers.

“MasterChef” at 8 p.m. showed at 2.1/7 -- down from a 2.2 -- and a 2.2/7 for its 9 p.m. airing, down from a 2.5 rating.

NBC still bested all individual TV shows for the night with its “America’s Got Talent” with a 2.7/8 at 9 p.m., up a bit from its last original program on Wednesday. NBC used a strong “Talent” to launch new show “Camp” at 10 p.m., which came in with a so-so 1.5/5. For the night, NBC came in second with an overall 1.8/5.

CBS was next. Its “Big Brother” at 8 p.m. came in just behind “MasterChef” at a 2.0/7, rising from a 1.7 rating a week before. CBS had less luck with its “The American Baking Competition” finale at 9 p.m., which could only match its 1.1/3 numbers of a week ago. CBS had a 1.4/4 for the night.

ABC was behind almost everyone -- with its two original TV shows' content doing poorly. Its “Family Tools” finale could only manage a 0.6/2 at 8:30 p.m., and “The Lookout,” at 10 p.m., only mustered a 0.7/2. ABC averaged a 0.7/2 on the night.

Univision reached third place for the night -- ahead of CBS, and behind NBC -- averaging a 1.6/5. CW landed at 0.3/1.
Total viewers put NBC on top with 7.3 million; Fox at 5.3 million; CBS at 4.9 million; Univision at 3.8 million; ABC at 2.8 million; and CW, 1.0 million
