ABC
will make content from a number of news programs, as well as “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “The View,” available on Clear Channel’s iHeartRadio digital radio service. The
content will be part of a new “talk” feature on the service that streams 1,500-plus radio stations.
The deal covers some exclusive content from “Good Morning America."
iHeartRadio will help determine talent to appear on the show’s 2014 summer concert series -- while the show will feature notable iHeartRadio DJs, starting in the fall, weekly.
The
agreement also involves cross-promotion, as iHeartRadio will plug ABC shows for lengthy periods in both the fall and spring with on-air mentions and via digital and social media. ABC will promote the
iHeartRadio “Good Morning America” partnership on a Times Square display and via digital media.
ABC has been looking to expand its news brand, largely through a new deal to
create a joint English-language network targeting Hispanics with Univision.
Among the stations accessible through the Clear Channel service are a number in the talk genre throughout the
U.S. Those listeners might be attracted to the ABC content, such as clips from “Nightline” and “20/20.”
