Captivate Taps SparkRecipes For Food Content

Captivate Network, which delivers digital video to professionals in elevators and lobby areas, has struck a deal giving it access to editorial content from SparkRecipes, a division of SparkPeople, an online community which claims to have about 15 million members, focused on healthy lifestyles including nutrition, health and fitness.

The content agreement provides Captivate with popular favorites from its library of 430,000 recipes, as well as healthy eating tips. All will be featured with the tagline “Eat Better” on Captivate’s network of over 10,000 screens in office elevators, reaching about 5.6 million viewers per month.

The editorial content will cater to busy professionals by emphasizing recipes that are easy to make but still nutritious.

The SparkRecipes partnership is the latest in a series of moves by Captivate to expand its content offerings, especially in the lifestyle, travel and leisure categories. In April, Captivate announced new deals giving it access to editorial content from sources including The Muse, offering career advice; GOOD, on practical philanthropy; Greatist, on health and wellness; Lonely Planet, on travel; and, billed as a “hotel tell-all.”

In July, Captivate -- which also operates in office buildings north of the border -- signed a deal for content from Canada’s National Post and Financial Post. Captivate also draws on news from USA Today and Reuters, as well as business content from Forbes, Business Insider, Bloomberg Businessweek and CNN Money, entertainment coverage from People magazine, and restaurant reviews from Zagat, among others
