Ooyala today will preview a new mosaic player that lets publishers stream up to five live or on-demand video sports feeds at the same time, in a dizzying array of configurations, including multi-camera views at sporting events, alerts when teams score or have significant plays, across multiple devices, all controlled by the viewers
The mosaic player demoed at the NexTV summit in San Francisco gives advertisers a Snak-Pak of ways to add advertising insertions that don’t intrude on the action itself.
“This product is emblematic of our around-the-corner thinking and has the potential to dramatically increase engagement and revenue for our broadcast customers,” said Sean
Knapp, co-founder, executive vice president and chief product officer at Ooyala, in a statement. “TV over IP is not only easier and more cost-effective to deploy, it offers better experiences than broadcast
TV-- for the viewer and for the companies producing high-quality content.”
Ooyala’s mosaic player will be available initially on PCs and soon on tablets, smartphones and other connected devices too. Not just a compendium of live action, the Ooyala mosaic lets viewers blend on-demand and live content, with DVR capabilities to unravel the whole deal later.
