Regulators in New York have just announced what The New York Times calls “the most comprehensive crackdown to date on deceptive reviews on the Internet.” According to NYTimes, 19 companies
have already agreed to end misleading practices and pay fines of some $350,000 in penalties. “Also signing are several reputation-enhancement firms that place fraudulent reviews on sites like
Google, Yelp, Citysearch and Yahoo.”
