Aviv Exits Twentieth Century Fox

Movie marketing chief executives continue to exit.

Oren Aviv, chief marketing officer at 20th Century Fox, has departed. Aviv will be replaced by Fox executives Paul Hanneman and Tomas Jegeus, who will be co-presidents of worldwide theatrical marketing and distribution.

Hanneman and Jegeus have been co-presidents of 20th Century Fox International since September 2005.

Aviv had been at Fox since 2011, coming from a variety of marketing positions at Walt Disney. A recent Fox film, “Runner Runner,” opened to poor results. Other disappointing theatrical openings included “Turbo,” “Epic” and “The Internship.”

Other recent movie studio departures include Marc Weinstock at Sony, Terry Curtin at Relativity Media and Anne Globe at DreamWorks Animation.

Aviv had a number of several successes including “Life of Pi,” which grossed more than $124 million. His departure comes one year after Tom Rothman left as co-chairman of Fox, leaving Jim Gianopulos solely in charge of the studio.

In January 2012, Walt Disney named Ricky Strauss its new president of movie marketing. He replaced MT Carney, who had no previous experience in the film industry.
