Viacom Names Tedone EVP, Direct-Response Sales

Viacom has a new head of its direct-response advertising business.

Mike Tedone will be executive vice president of national and direct-response sales for Viacom Media Networks Music and Entertainment. Tedone will oversee direct-response business in the upfront and scatter markets, reporting to Jeff Lucas, head of sales, advertising and marketing for Viacom Media Networks Music and Entertainment.

Previously, Tedone was chief operating officer of ad sales for Viacom Media Networks Music and Entertainment. He is an eight-year veteran at Viacom.

Before Viacom, Tedone was executive vice president of advertising sales at NBC Universal, overseeing sales teams of USA, SyFy and Bravo. Before that, Tedone held senior posts at Lifetime Television and in NBC's Corporate Finance Group.

Two years ago, Brian Fays, a 40-year-old former senior vice president at MTV Networks, exited Viacom following an investigation into allegations he was involved in a scheme that diverted millions of dollars over a period of years.

Fays oversaw direct-response advertising and paid programming for most of Viacom's 17 ad-supported cable networks, including MTV, VH1 and Comedy Central.
