Clear Channel Names Jacobs CRO/President Of Sales

Clear Channel Outdoor has named Walker Jacobs chief revenue officer and president of sales, the company announced Wednesday. In this role, Jacobs will be responsible for national advertising sales, sales marketing, revenue management and sales operations teams.

He has an added emphasis on audience targeting and measurement, as well as integration of social media and mobile.

Jacobs previously served as executive vice president of Turner Broadcasting Systems’ Turner Digital division, where he oversaw all digital sales spanning Internet, video-on-demand and mobile platforms, in addition to cable networks and online properties. Before that, he was senior vice president of Reuters Americas Media Group, overseeing Reuters.com advertising and content sales, as well as Reuter’s outdoor ad business in Times Square.

Clear Channel Outdoor president and CEO Suzanne Grimes stated: “This is the pivotal moment for OOH as we combine our enduring impact with emerging technology to help marketers reach an increasingly mobile consumer against the backdrop of a fractured media landscape.”

Jacobs is joining CCO as the company works to bolster its digital platforms and offer advertisers more national sales options.

In May, CCO unveiled “consumer networks” that bundle out-of-home assets targeting specific audiences with CCO ad inventory at the national and regional levels, in order to streamline and simplify the media planning and purchasing process.

The outdoor advertising consumer networks are defined by various demographic, geographic and psychographic factors. That allows advertisers to choose from outdoor portfolios targeting market segments, including Hispanics, African-Americans, women or men ages 18-49, adults ages 18-34, and consumers with incomes greater than $75,000, $100,000 and $150,000 per year
