Felix Baumgartner’s epic high-altitude skydive was only the beginning for Red Bull’s original video content push.
Red Bull Media House, the energy drink
maker’s video production outfit, announced that it is partnering with Outside Television to create 45 hours of original TV programming in the form of five series and feature documentaries,
including three new documentaries focused on Baumgartner and his daredevil stunts.
The new shows include “The Art of Flight,” a seven-part, half-hour series airing weekly
at 8 p.m. on Friday nights, beginning Nov. 8, which follows the aerial acrobatics of a group of professional snowboarders led by Travis Rice; “Where the Trail Ends,” a weekly series of
half-hour shows featuring the derring-do of pro mountain bikers, following “The Art of Flight” at 8:30 p.m. on Fridays.
“Xtreme Collxtion,” an anthology of
half-hour episodes about a variety of extreme sports and stunts, first airing Saturday, Nov. 9; “Ultimate Rush 2,” a returning original from Red Bull, which follows extreme sports
cinematographers, beginning Saturday, November 23; and “eXplorers,” another returning original, documenting feats combining discovery and endurance.
Red Bull is also
producing a new documentary about Baumgartner’s record-breaking, supersonic skydive, “Mission to the Edge of Space: The Inside Story of Red Bull Stratos,” which will premiere on
Outside TV in late January 2014. So will another documentary, “The Felix Baumgartner Story,” about the Australian daredevil’s various “base” jumps, as yet unscheduled,
and “Felix Baumgartner: The Cave,” focusing on his jump in the Mamet Cave in Croatia.
The new content deal comes on top of Red Bull’s prior partnership with Red
Bull, which included four original series and several prime time features to the weekly “Outside Film Festival.”
