AMC had run the Fox Television Studios show for three seasons. Recently, it cancelled the show for the second time -- the first time was after the second season in July 2012.
AMC was able to go ahead with a
third season after Netflix agreed to stream episodes of the third season three months after the finale aired on the cable network. With the new deal, Netflix looks to air six episodes of
“The Killing” to be billed as its final season.
Earlier this year, Netflix agreed to produced and run 15 new episodes of another Fox-produced show, “Arrested
Development,” which ran for four seasons on the Fox network from 2003 to 2006.
Unlike other more highly viewed AMC dramas -- including “Breaking Bad” and “The Walking Dead” -- “The Killing” had been posting more modest results, grabbing 1.5 million to 1.8 million viewers on average for each of its 12 episodes that ran this season.

There are a bounty of terrific dramas available today, but The Killing is a special case for me - having been bumped off twice. This news, remarkable, is most welcome!
