Mindshare's Lang Promoted to Chief Content Officer

Mindshare’s new North American CEO Colin Kinsella continues to put his stamp on the agency, with the appointment of its long-time branded entertainment president David Lang to the new position of chief content officer.

Lang’s promotion is the latest in a string of C-level appointments at the agency, including the naming of Bob Ivins as chief data officer and Jordan Bitterman as chief strategy Officer.

Lang will report to Kinsella, who joined the shop in July.

Mindshare said that Lang would collaborate with Ivins and Bitterman to “translate data and consumer insights into real-time, socially focused and shareable content.”

Lang has overseen the agency’s branded entertainment efforts since 2005. “David is a first-rate storyteller and an expert at weaving data and insights into content,” Kinsella said. The chief content officer role, he added, is designed to empower content creation “to reach the full potential of real-time marketing.”

Lang has led Mindshare Entertainment for more than seven years, developing content for many of the agency’s blue-chip clients including Unilever, American Express, IBM and Kimberly-Clark, among others.

Before joining Mindshare in 2005, Lang was senior vice president of development & production at Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video, where he oversaw development of shows and the production process as executive producer.

“The most effective media campaigns need Big Data to understand the consumer, entertainment expertise to develop a compelling story and the technology to deliver it rapidly and with impact,” said Lang. The agency has the resources in all three areas, he added. “We are empowered to constantly break new ground and continually redefine the content space.”
