Another top executive is bolting the fledgling American operations of South Korea powerhouse Cheil Worldwide. Just one month after Lars Bastholm left as Chief Creative Officer of Cheil USA to join Publicis’ Rosetta, Buz Sawyer is stepping down as CEO of Cheil North America to take on an expanded role at Hyper Island, where he is a board chairman.

Tellingly, Cheil announced Sawyer would not be replaced, but that the overall management of Cheil in the U.S. would fall on the management of two of its U.S. divisions: The Barbarian Group and McKinney.
