Buz Sawyer, CEO of Cheil North America for the past three years, is leaving his post at the end of the year. Sawyer plans on expanding his duties as board chairman and strategic adviser at Hyper Island, and doing consulting work. “Buz has successfully transformed Cheil Worldwide’s presence in the Americas,” said Michael Kim, global chief operations officer of Cheil Worldwide. “We wish him the best in his new position.” Sawyer strengthened the management at Cheil-owned The Barbarian Group and managed the acquisition of independent agency, McKinney. He will not be replaced, as McKinney and The Barbarian Group will independently drive Cheil’s growth in the US market.
