Amanda Knox Pleads With Italian Court Over Email

American student Amanda Knox has pleaded not guilty in the murder of her former roommate Meredith Kercher in an email sent to an Italian court this week. Knox entered the plea over the Internet rather than showing up in person for fear of a conviction. "I am innocent. I did not kill, I did not rape, I did not steal, I did not plot or instigate. I did not kill Meredith, I did not take part in her murder," she wrote in Italian in the email. Knox was acquitted in March, but the case is being tried again in a courtroom in Florence after Italy's Supreme Court dismissed the former court hearing claiming inconsistencies with the case.
