is creating a new integrated marketing unit -- Viacom Velocity Creative Content Solutions.
Niels Schuurmans will head up the unit, as executive vice president, reporting to Jeff Lucas, head of
sales, music and entertainment at Viacom Media Networks.
Previously, Schuurmans had been executive vice president, consumer marketing and executive creative director at Spike TV.
At Viacom, he will supervise the development of partner creative on linear, digital and cross-network campaigns -- including video production, graphic design and copywriting. In addition, he'll work
with the programming, ‘connected content’ and marketing teams.
Schuurmans will also work with Dario Spina, executive vice president of Viacom Velocity Integrated Marketing,
who will continue to be the strategic and client lead on all music and entertainment integrated-marketing campaigns.
"Our custom content business has grown exponentially over the past few
years, as more and more advertisers seek to harness the creative power of our brands and connect with our audiences in unique, authentic ways," stated Lucas.
At Spike, Schuurmans worked on
network's original programming, its mixed martial arts sports partnerships with Bellator and the UFC, and its pro-social campaigns. Prior to Spike, Schuurmans was senior and worldwide creative
director at Nickelodeon.
