CP+B Launches Sao Paulo Outpost

Crispin Porter + Bogusky, part of MDC Partners, has opened an office in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The office, which is branded CP+B Brazil, is being led by the creative team of Andre Kassu and Marcos Medeiros, while Vinicius Reis has been appointed director of operations and business development.

The Brazil office is the agency’s sixth. CP+B is based in Miami and also has offices in Los Angeles, Boulder, London and Gothenberg, Sweden.  The agency said that CP+B Brazil will work with both local and multinational clients.

Kassu and Medeiros are joining CP+B Brazil from AlmapBBDO, where they first teamed up in 2008. In 2013, the pair won 16 Lions at Cannes, for brands including VW, Bayer and Getty Images. Their most recent work includes two campaigns for VW, including “The Last Wishes,” for the final edition of the Kombi car, and the launch of Up!, a new Brazilian model from the car maker.

Reis joins the agency from Agencia We, where he was a partner. Earlier, he worked for DDB Latin America and also ran the Unilever North America account at Lowe New York. He’s also worked with clients such as Procter & Gamble, ExxonMobil and Johnson & Johnson.

“It’s no secret that Brazil is an emerging economic powerhouse,” said CP+B Chairman Chuck Porter. “it’s exciting, sexy and bursting with talent.”

In 2012, CP+B struck a partnership with Sao Paulo-based Peralta to service Crispin’s major global clients. Plans then called for “future collaboration” between the two agencies. But that agreement fizzled, and Crispin opted to start afresh with its own branded office in the market.

"We collaborated with Peralta on some initial projects and while we remain friends of the agency, we made a decision that doing an organic start-up, as we did in London, is more in keeping with our mission and our culture,” the agency stated.
