JWT Agrees To Buy Lemon Sky

WPP’s global agency JWT has agreed to acquire Lemon Sky, a creative digital shop in Poland. Terms were not disclosed. The seller is SMT, a holding company with specialist firms in the marketing, technology and e-commerce sectors.

Founded in 2000 and employing around 70 people in Warsaw and Wroclaw, Lemon Sky’s clients include Nestle, Orange, Tesco and Leroy Merlin. The CEO is Magdalena Surowiec.

Lemon Sky’s unaudited revenues for 2013 were approximately $3.7 million. Following the completion of the deal, Lemon Sky will become part of JWT Warsaw. 

Poland is one of Europe’s faster-growing new media markets. In 2012, total digital advertising spending grew an estimated 10%, reaching nearly $679 million.

WPP said it generates revenues of around $150 million in Poland and employs more than 1,000 people there.

The Lemon Sky deal follows an agreement last year by VML to take a minority stake in Poland’s Heureka Group. VML is part of JWT sibling agency Y&R. Heureka was rebranded VML Poland.
