Snickers Debuts 'Godzilla' Ad During Academy Awards

And the Oscar for friendliest fire-breathing monster goes to... Godzilla? Snickers will bow its latest "You're Not You When You're Hungry" ad during ABC's telecast of The Academy Awards.

Previous ads starred Betty White, Abe Vigoda, Robin Williams, Aretha Franklin, Joe Pesci, Roseanne Barr and Richard Lewis as characters that weren't themselves when hungry. A Snickers fix would quickly propel them back to normal.

What makes the latest ad so amusing is the spokesperson is more of a spokesmonster: Godzilla is acting in ways one never thought possible.

The epic monster is a ladies’ man, competitive Ping-Pong player and decent dancer.

Godzilla's genteel character changes drastically when he’s hungry. The fire-breathing monster comes to town, destroying a city. When his friends throw him a Snickers, everything is sunshine and rainbows, or should I say waterskiing and smiles? Check out the ad here, with a tie-in to the upcoming "Godzilla" movie, created by BBDO New York.
