NBC's 'Voice' Helps Boost 'Boy,' 'Fisher'

“The Voice” gave NBC another Tuesday win -- its second in a row since coming back from its Sochi Olympics programming.

Nielsen preliminary results show that The Voice” at 8 p.m. gained three-tenths of a rating point to a 4.0 rating/12 share among 18-49 viewers versus the week before. All that helped NBC’s two new sitcoms that followed: “About A Boy” and “Growing Up Fisher.”

“About a Boy,” at 9 p.m., grabbed a 2.6 rating/7 share -- up from a week ago’s 2.4/7, which was a repeat of its pilot episode. “Growing Up Fisher” got to a 2.0/5 at 9:30 p.m., hitting the same numbers as its repeat premiere a week ago.

ABC’s “Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” returned to original episodes on Tuesday, but only earned a 1.7/5 -- running against strong competition at 8 p.m. against “The Voice” (4.0/12) and CBS’ “NCIS” (2.4/7). “Agents” numbers hit a series low.  “NCIS” hit a season low.

ABC also didn’t do too well with its new “Mind Games” 10 p.m. drama, down to 0.6/2 from a 1.1/3 for its premiere a year ago.

Fox’s best came from “New Girl” at 9 p.m., which took in a 1.5/4 up from a 1.4 rating the week before.

For the night among 18-49 viewers, NBC was at a 2.7/8, up a bit from a 2.6/7 the week before. CBS slipped a bit, a 2.1/6 versus a 2.2/6;  ABC, sank to a 1.2/3 versus a 2.0/6; Fox hit a 1.2/3 -- virtually the same against a 1.2/4; Univision did a bit better a 1.2/3 against a 1.1/3; and CW stayed the same at 0.9/3.

Lead-in helps, but "Boy" and "Fisher" are extraordinarily well-done shows. I think word-of-mouth will carry their ratings even higher.
