Katz Unveils Political Strategies Group

With midterm elections coming up in November, America’s attention is turning again to politics. Katz Radio Group, the country’s largest radio sales representation company, is bolstering its political practice with a new Political Strategies group, which will showcase radio’s reach and effectiveness as a political ad medium, the company announced today.
Katz Vice President For Political Sales And Strategy Pat McGee will lead the group in the new role of senior vice president of political strategies, working with leading political consultants and major media firms to create political ad packages exploiting Katz’s reach, research and creative media capabilities.

Prior to joining Katz in 2005, McGee was deputy political director for a 2002 Congressional race and also worked in radio ad sales at Interep.
McGee stated: “The scope of our station platform affords KRG the ability to deliver voters with scale. This is not just about influencing the political spend; the new Political Strategies group is focused on educating key advertisers on the power of radio and providing them with the most innovative, results-driven advertising campaign, for this mid-term election and beyond.”
Katz has been aggressively expanding its capabilities with new groups for certain key ad categories in recent months.
In February, Katz launched a new Health Care Strategies Group, positioning itself to benefit from increased public attention and ad spending in the health care category as the Affordable Care Act takes effect. LaTonya Chenault-Qawwee is leading the outfit as vice president of healthcare strategies. Her responsibilities include working with healthcare companies and federal and state exchanges to incorporate new needs and requirements associated with healthcare reforms into advertising campaigns.
Last year, Katz relaunched its interactive division, formerly known as Katz 360, as PROXi Digital, offering an expanded range of online, mobile and audience targeting products in partnership with KRG and Katz Television Group, as well as a third-party ad network.
