Fox Wins Wednesday, But 'Modern Family' Tops Ratings

Fox repeated another Wednesday night win -- helped by some reruns on other networks. “Idol” was at a Nielsen 2.2 rating/7 share among 18-49 viewers (and 9.3 million viewers overall) -- the same adult 18-49 numbers as the week before.

It helped Fox that CBS, in particular, had some reruns on its Wednesday schedule this the week -- “Criminal Minds” and “CSI.” The week before, Fox and CBS tied for the No. 1 spot.

That left CBS’ original episode of “Survivor” competing head to head with “Idol.” The venerable reality competition show earned a 2.3/7 and 9.9 million viewers overall -- better than “Idol” -- but a season low. The week before, “Survivor” was at a 2.5/8.

ABC posted the best results on the night with its “Modern Family” continuing its top ratings -- 3.6/11 and 10.1 million. Good news for new comedy on ABC -- “Mixology,” airing right after “Modern Family,” grabbed a 1.6/5 versus a 1.2/3 a week before when it followed a “Modern Family” rerun.

NBC also offered up a couple of reruns and a special “Prince Harry’s South Pole Heroes,” which earned a 0.8/3 and 3.7 million viewers.

For the night, Fox scored a 2.1/6 among 18-49 viewers, followed by ABC at 1.8/6, CBS with 1.7/5, Univision at 1.2/4, and NBC and CW tied with a 0.8/2.
