Vizio Knows Moms Love Tech, Too

Dads are usually the ones associated with high-tech gifts. But why can’t Mom have a little more technology in her life?

Vizio is launching a contest for Mother’s Day, “This One’s For Mom,” that will reward one lucky Mom with a home theater system and an expenses-paid trip, just for being great. 

The promo, running through April, encourages people to upload a video or written (with photo) tribute to their moms. After a consumer vote, the mom of the winning submission will get a Vizio Home Theater system (including a 60-inch smart TV, sound bar, a $500 Walmart gift card, a $250 VUDU gift card and an expense-paid tip to the DreamWorks Animation campus in Glendale, Calif.) The person nominating the winning mom will also receive a prize package.



“Moms go above and beyond the call of duty for their families every day and as such, we feel they deserve to be celebrated,” Lily Knowles, vice president of product marketing for Vizio, tells Marketing Daily. “Moms are also becoming a more common influencer and decision maker for technology in their household, and, thus, moms are just as relevant to technology these days as dads are.”

Submissions for the contest will be accepted through April 22, with voting to take place between April 23 and April 30. Vizio will be promoting the contest through its social channels, and is encouraging submitters to promote their tributes via their own social networks using the hashtag #thisonesformom. 

Consumers who are part of Vizio’s Fandemonium social community, which rewards consumers for participating in certain activities or weighing in on topics such as sports, music, gaming and other areas, can earn points by submitting their stories and voting on favorite submissions.
