AT&T
says its U-Verse TV service continues to gain ground.
In the first quarter, AT&T says it had a net gain of 4% for its pay TV service -- some 201,000 subscribers -- reaching 5.7
million.
When totaling all U-verse TV and broadband business, AT&T registers a total 11.3 million customers. Total U-verse revenues, including business, gained 29% year-over-year -- now
a nearly $14 billion in revenue.
For all its broadband connections -- DSL, U-verse and satellite -- there were 634,000 high-speed Internet subscriber net additions.
Total
consumer broadband connections are 14.8 million. U-verse broadband represents two-thirds of AT&T’s broadband base, adding 78,000 in the period.
While many other pay TV providers
-- especially cable -- have seen erosion in their respective video businesses, AT&T says it has seen continued gains, noting that it has more pay TV subscribers than any other telecommunications
companies.
In the first quarter, AT&T says 90% of new U-verse TV customers also signed up for U-verse high-speed Internet. About two-thirds of AT&T U-verse TV subscribers take
three or four services from AT&T. ARPU for U-verse triple-play customers -- phone, video, and broadband -- continues to be more than $170.
